Young, Famous And African: Kenyans Debate Which Local Entertainer Would Have been Perfect For Netflix’s Show

For the better part of the weekend, Kenyans have been vocal since the debut of Netflix’s highly anticipated reality series “Young, Famous and African” which showcases the life of well-known, affluent entertainers living in South Africa.

Set in South Africa’s Johannesburg, the seven-part series showcases the who’s who of fashion, music and social media from different parts of the continent.

Khanyi Mbau(SA), Diamond Platnumz(TZ), Annie Macaulay-Idibia(NG), 2Baba(NG), Zari the Boss Lady(UG), Naked DJ(SA), Nadia Nakai(SA), Swanky Jerry(NG), Andile Ncube(SA) and Kayleigh Schwark(SA) make up this key cast and are all connected through friendship, work and romance.

Kenyans, however, took to socials to insist that the country should have been represented in the show.

Flamboyant Keroche heiress Anerlisa Muigai, who was married to Tanzanian singer Ben Pol, claims she was reached out by Netflix to be on the show but had to turn down the offer.

The rich kid said she walked away from the offer because it was not the direction she wanted to take her career.

Singers Ringtone, Bahati, Akothee, Diana Marua, Prezzo and socialites Huddah Monroe and Vera Sidika are among the popular names flaunted for the show which might be having a season two on the way.
