The Spotlight is On Ogranya

Ogranya is an architect turned musician who is taking ambient bedroom pop to a whole new level.

The 29 year old singer studied architecture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) graduating in 2013 and worked at the ongoing Salvation Ministries Cathedral Project in Port Harcourt for four years before deciding to quit and focus on his music.

He released his debut ep, Eden Evermore, in 2019 and it was a sonic triumph of highly emotional tracks, soft tunes and chill vibes. Since that time, Ogranya has steadily built up his fanbase while mastering his sound thematically and sonically.

Ogranya has cited renowned artistes like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Rex Lawson, The Beatles, Eagles, B.B. King, Carlos Santana, Michael Jackson, Sade, Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, Kirk Franklin, Shaggy, Dido, Akon, 50 Cent, Ne’Yo, Lil’ Wayne, Duncan Mighty and John Legend as people who influenced his love for music as an adolescent whole growing up and ultimately his own creative direction when making his own songs.

His next project, Imperfect, also an ep was released in 2020 during the pandemic and the soothing strains of his intimate, gentle songwriting earned him even more fans. He also collaborated with producer Wondermagik on a joint EP in the same year.

After a flurry of successful singles, Ogranya is taking on an even more challenging track this year. He has a budding project in the works called “Project 52”; it is a collection of 52 songs that the artist is going to be releasing every week for the entire year of 2021.

Ogranya is evolving and improving at a truly impressive rate and you can catch a track or two of his right here at the City.
