Wale has been wisely selective about sharing his personal life on social media since he became a father.
Earlier this summer, he welcomed his baby girl, Zyla Moon Oluwakemi, into his family and has taken to Instagram several times to adorably express how his life has been changed forever.
However, the rapper sharing photos of Zyla has not gone over well in the past, with trolls baiting the protective father into comment wars regarding his newborn daughter.
Now that he has made it known he will not tolerate inappropriate comments about his daughter, today (September 15) Wale decided to share just how beautiful she is, posting an incredibly cute photo of her in the bathtub.
In addition to sharing this new snapshot of his beautiful baby girl, Wale also used the opportunity to pen a heartfelt and unapologetically honest message about how Zyla is the reason he’s working on becoming a better man.
“I had too much faith in humanity,” the rapper begins. “I had too much faith in an industry that could never love somebody who had/has faith in said humanity. Thinking with my heart. Misunderstood is an understatement. Day in an day out I’m trying to convince somebody to see things my way, it often turns gets lost in translation and just sounds like complaining or ‘whining.’”
Wale then goes on to talk about how he’s “come to grips” that most people don’t care to understand and how people will always ignore your best efforts.
“I wear my heart right on my sleeve in real life and I’m super open wit my feelings,” he continues. “I got to do better. I got to make changes.”
As Wale continues detailing how he’s a work in progress focusing on being happier, he adds, “God willing, I will. If not for me.. For Her..”
The humility and honesty Wale shared today is just as incredible as his inspiration for posting that deeply personal message.
