Ariana Grande, the pop powerhouse is back and getting personal on her new song “thank u, next.” Over the upbeat instrumental, she addresses her high-profile relationships with Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Mac Miller, and her former fiancé Pete Davidson.
“Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match,” she sings on the Victoria Monét-penned track. “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete I’m so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel.”
But instead of being bitter, she’s grateful to her exes for what they taught her. “One taught me love / One taught me patience / And one taught me pain / Now I’m so amazing,” she sings.
