We can all agree that R & B singer and CEO, Empire Mates record label, Banky W and Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, known professionally as Jidenna, a Nigerian-American recording artist signed to Wondaland Records has some similarities and lifestyle when it comes to their musical career. Well so we think.
In 2015, Jidenna released two singles, “Classic Man” and “Yoga”, promoting the label’s compilation EP The Eephus.
Banky W made his debut into the Nigerian music industry with his hit song, Ebute Metta. It was an instant hit especially because its tune was got from Rihanna’s Umbrella. Subsequently, the dude has since dropped hit songs
Jidenna says that his music is inspired by Nigerian music, specifically the Highlife music genre.
“Every album I’ve ever put out has been largely based on my life and personal experiences, at the time, or at least on things I’ve witnessed and been inspired by. “Undeniable” the EP, was my first project so the music was inspired by the life I was living at that time and the things I was going through.” – Banky W
As always, Supreme Mavin Dynasty Boss Don Jazzy has a way of making us laugh on social media!
Don Jazzy tweeted that Jidenna is now a part of Afrobeats gang; christening him #YankyBanky – the American version of American returnee Banky W who fused afrobeats with R & B when he made his debut in the Nigerian industry in 2008 with Ebute Metta.
For some time now it will be proper to give some thumbs up to singer, Jidenna, as he has been killing it with some African fabrics on stage.
Jidenna arrives Nigeria for his homecoming Africa tour.
Hopefully, there will be some major collaborations during his visit.
