Wizkid responds to backlash over free show claims with DJ Semtex

Nigerian singer, Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has claimed he sometimes does free shows in Nigeria adding that he sometimes collects as low as N1,000 for his performance. The 26-year-old singer said this during an interview with DJ Semtex, an English disc jockey and presenter for BBC Radio 1Xtra digital radio station where he talked at length about his single, Ojuelegba, showed off his accent and noted that he was getting better at it.

The singer during the interview further noted that he is loved by Nigerians adding that he tries to reciprocate the love by claiming he does a lot for Nigerians back home.

“Everywhere they go, they will tell you. Nigerians love me, and I love them too much. I will do anything for my Nigerian people man.

He added:

“Big shout to my Naija people. I love them too much. That’s why I do a lot back home. Sometimes I do free shows. I just pull up and say ‘Hey, Wizkid, free show.’

Sometimes I charge like a dollar for a show, sometimes I take like N1000, sometimes when I do shows at the Fela shrine, back with Femi (Kuti) and all that.”

Right after bloggers and media outfits called his bluff, saying he lied and he has since been a trending topic. The ‘Come closer’ singer has been forced to response, read his reply below:
