7. Mr Eazi – Rotate

Mr Eazi, the Nigerian multihyphenate behind “Pour Me Water,” “Skin Tight” (with Efya), and “Leg Over,” plays with Afro-Reggae and delivers Rotate (freestyle).

This freestyle, created by OteeBeatz, is a nice Dancehall groove with a gorgeous tune and appealing lyrics.

Mr Eazi is a worldwide superstar from Nigeria and the creator of emPawa Africa, whereas Popcaan is a worldwide dancehall superstar from Jamaica who released his first two albums on Mixpak and is now continuing his dominance with OVO Sound.

They are advancing a long-simmering cross-continental debate between afro-pop and dancehall, which continues to provide diamonds. Mixpak label president Dre Skull–known for his songwriting and production work with Popcaan, Vybz Kartel, Drake, Wizkid, Jorja Smith, Davido, and others–unites this sensibility.

He recently collaborated with Popcaan, Jamaica’s favorite dancehall performer, and Dre Skull, an American record producer, on the new song “Sekkle & Bop.”

Dre Skull’s “Sekkle & Bop” is a bashment riddim that has always resonated on dancefloors throughout the world. It serves as the framework for Mr Eazi and Popcaan to take charge, with a soundsystem-ready bass end and an earworming flute melody. Both vocalists ride the riddim with their trademark charm and ease, easily switching flows that conjure up vintage dancehall classics, dominating dancers, and steadily increasing the energy.
