We begin a new series – the #SoundcityUnderground series. Like it is on TV, we spotlight new music from the very best emerging African artistes across the continent. Rap, dancehall to soul and alternative genre with one of them getting a feature across our several platform including Soundcity Radios.

So listen to the our first shortlist and there’s a poll to vote your favourite – who gets the spotlight!

a new cover from Dezign – who remixed his latest single ‘Oyoyo’ with Harrysong and Humblesmith surfaced online. He delivers a reggae twist to Cobhams’ brilliant ‘One Hit’. ‘Otedola if you no want sponsor me, Let me marry DJ Cuppy’, Dezign sings.


Young Twelve and Lil Zenvo‘s new trap record titled ‘Plans’ is produced by an emerging producer known as Drip and it features RushKlan. Listen below!

Fan of Dancehall, Tyler Himself puts an interesting spin on it with ‘Tuula Wansi’, which he describes as African Dancehall Hero. Check on it!

G’Iyaz is a 19 year old Hip-Hop and describes his music as ‘Afro Fusion’, Based out in Lagos, Nigeria and he plays the drums!

1Fame is from Ghana and on this record titled ‘Parental Guidance’, he features MeDikal and Epixode. A clash of dancehall and Hiphop. Check on it!

Chillz’ Smooth Sailing is a mellow Freevybe. ‘I no come here come find trouble’, Chillz sings on the instrumental originally used by Yung L. Check on it!

This is a self-produced track by Disally titled ‘Specia’ and features another emerging talent known as Jaemo Banton! Check on it.

West Bizzy is from Ghana. This one is titled ‘Broke’!

Fancy Trip is a Hiphop act from Gaborne, Botswana and on ‘Been That Way’, he raps about not wanting to change. Watch!

The only lady on this list this week (the only entry we could review today) is Iryn Namubiru from Uganda with the video for ‘Tick’. Definitely a soothing track, watch!

DABU the Gemini says he has got it like ‘Stephen Curry’. Stephen Curry is an American professional basketball player and regarded by many as the greatest shooter in NBA history.
