Fresh off announcing her upcoming tour, Ms. Hill thanked Khaled for sampling the Fugees classic “Fu-Gee-La” on “Nas Album Done” off his new album, Major Key. In a message posted on Saturday (Aug. 6), the reclusive star responded to Khaled’s recent praise.
“DJ Khaled, thank you for that acknowledgement, and thank you and Nas for blessing up the chune lol,” she wrote. “‘Fu-Gee-La’ was a special song for us. I have fond memories of us and Salaam [Remi] recording that song. My son, Zion, ironically laid his own thoughts down in a verse on this same song recently. There must be something in the air.”
She also congratulated the Snapchat king and his wife on their upcoming baby. “May God bless your family and the arrival of your new child,” she added. “I also remember that Humble Lion show! Grace and peace to both of you.”

“Fu-Gee-La” is now two decades old, having appeared on the Fugees’ 1996 album The Score. That same year, Nas and Lauryn Hill collaborated on “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That),” a standout from Nas’ It Was Written, that the duo still performs together from time to time.
