Kanye West shocked fans when he tweeted “throne2 coming soon” days ago, referring to the long-awaited follow-up to 2011’s collaborative album with JAY-Z, Watch the Throne.

The announcement is surprising as the two have had a contentious relationship in recent years. During his “Saint Pablo Tour” stop in Seattle in 2016, Kanye said that “there will never be a Watch the Throne 2,” revealing that he and JAY didn’t appear on the official version of Drake’s “Pop Style” due to issues between TIDAL and Apple Music.
The original Watch the Throne, which spawned hits including “Ni**as in Paris,” “Otis,” and “No Church in the Wild,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned seven Grammy nominations.
