“Even a nomination is a huge achievement” – AKA shares his thought on Burnaboy’s Grammy nom and loss to Angelique Kidjo

Burnaboy lost the Grammy nod to Angelique Kidjo and reactions have ensued – one of the most prominent was from South African rapper AKA who tweeted:

“I never hated Burna Boy. All I did was stand up for my country. I think it’s time to move past this narrative. It’s tired. Like I said, even a nomination is a huge achievement”.

He added: “What you should have done is focus on the positive instead of thinking about me and my country. In any case, Burna is still a champion. We still consider him a winner”.

The 62nd Grammy Awards which held last night in Los Angeles, California, saw Burna Boy and his African Giant alb nominated in the category for Best World Music Album.

The category was won by fellow African and legendary singer, Angelique Kidjo, with her album Ceila.
