Drake REALLY broke Michael Jackson’s record for American Music Award nominations

Drake broke a 32-year record for this year’s American Music Award Nomination, the academy announced on Monday morning.

The Toronto rapper’s latest release, Views, has somehow beaten Michael Jackson’s Thriller with 11 award considerations, which is puzzling considering critics were underwhelmed with Drizzy’s 20-track album.

He’s been nominated for Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and Favorite Male Artist, and a host of others.

Rihanna comes in second with seven nominations of her own.

Beginning today, people can vote for the awards before they close on Thursday, November 17. The show takes place live at 8pm on November 20 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
