Alex Ferguson set for Manchester United return

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is reportedly going to return to Manchester for a charity match to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the team’s treble-winning season.

The English Premier League (EPL) club said yesterday that the 77-year-old Scot would take charge of a Legends side against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on May 26.

Ferguson, who won the UEFA Champions League twice, the EPL 13 times and five FA Cups with Manchester United, had emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage in May last year but he has since recovered.

“I’m really looking forward to what will be a special day at Old Trafford,” Ferguson told the club website.

“It will be great to catch up with some familiar faces and a great opportunity to support the work of Manchester United Foundation.”
