The trailer for the latest installment of the George Lucas-created Star Wars universe, The Last Jedi, has been released in spectacular fashion.
The trailer debuted during Monday night football halftime, when storm troopers marched onto Soldier Field in Chicago, pyrotechnics lit the sky and the trailer showed on a big screen.
The clip featured the majority of the main cast, and hints at a more darker story than 2015’s The Force Awakens.
Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Darth Vader wannabe, returns with a hint of a rather grisly end for his mother, similar to what happened to his father in the previous instalment.
The clip also hints at a change of team for the story’s heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley). It shows Rey asking Kylo Ren to help her understand her “place in all of this”.
The Rian Johnson directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to hit South African screens on December 15.
