Toki Lala is not a new name to those who’ve been following Cameroonian Urban Music between the
years 2014 and 2017.
Born and raised in Mamfe, in the South West Region of Cameroon, Kate Obi aka Toki Lala fell in love with music at a very tender age and has nursed the passion till date.
The young songwriter, singer, and entrepreneur has been opportune to work with top entertainment stakeholders
around Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria over her first few years in the spotlight and during her prolonged period of silence.
“My disappearance from the music scenes was a blessing in disguise. Though silent in the public eye, I was busier than I could ever be. I had to take my career back to the drawing board, rebrand, restrategize, find myself, find my sound and create a bank of quality content in preparation for my return.”
“Music to me is a spiritual tool I want to use to speak to someone out there, share my experiences and emotions through my art.” July 16th, 2019, Toki Lala makes her way back into the music scenes with a brand new single titled ‘Real Love’, a song produced by one of Cameroon’s most prominent sound engineers Phill Bill Beatz.
‘Real Love’ is a song I wrote and recorded some time back and it carries a lot of my personal ideologies about LOVE. Every instrument and every line in the lyrics carries a vital message expressed in the simplest of ways and I want every African to be able to relate with this piece of art on a personal level.
As you look forward to the official video scheduled to be released in the weeks ahead, ‘Real Love’ (Lyrics Video) by “Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” is now available on YouTube.
