Rapper Nonini is now officially a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers(ASCAP).
On social media, Nonini shared an acceptance letter from ASCAP confirming his membership following his exit from the controversy-ridden Collective Management Organisation (CMO), Music Copyright Society of Kenya.
The musician, who is currently living in the US, surprised many early this week by terminating his membership with the MCSK after accusing the society of failing to represent and fight for artists’ rights.

Explaining his decision to walk away from the society, Nonini said has grown tired of fighting for his rights.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” he said.
“The human society is the extension of the individual. If we really want a radical change in anything, if we want a better world, better leadership and better structures, we need to change the things that are not working by understanding you have the power individually.”
With over 800,000 members, ASCAP is one of the oldest and biggest creatives society in the world.
Started in 1914, it’s a not-for-profit performance-rights organization that collectively licenses the public performance rights of its members’ musical works to venues, broadcasters, and digital streaming services.
