Following his massive ‘Chocola’ collaboration with Mohombi and Bayanni a few months ago, which has amassed over a million online plays and received support from the likes of Trace TV, Deezer, TV5MONDE, Spotify, and Apple Music, Dubai-based Gambian Senegalese singer, songwriter, and producer DAWDA is excited to release his debut solo single titled ‘WINE’. The catchy ‘Wine’, published on February 8 by trailblazing Dubai-based studio LPME Group, is the first song from Dawda’s highly anticipated next project, which will be released in the summer.

Written by Dawda, produced with Egyptian Swedish musician Aladdin Awad (Claydee, Dappy, SL, Leila AD), and mastered by Grammy Award-nominated audio engineer Dave Kutch, who has also worked with Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Beyoncé, among others, ‘Wine’ is a glorious blend of afrobeats, R&B, pop, and dancehall music fused together to near perfection. Inspired by the Jamaican dance ‘dutty wine’, the single is a seductive offering propelled by rich synths, percussion, and bass guitar arrangements, with Dawda waxing lyrical and enamoured with his leading lady’s dance skills.

Dawda, who has previously gained experience as a consummate songwriter for Snoh Aalegra, Iyaz, Ashley Tisdale, and Sean Kingston, is making his debut as a lead artist this year. The great musician and producer, endowed with musical prowess and a desire to create profound auditory experiences, is embarking on a musical journey firmly steeped in his African background. If you enjoy the afrofusion sounds of Omah Lay, Adekunle Gold, or Fireboy DML, Dawda is a name to watch in the afrobeats landscape in 2024.

Dawda, who was raised in Sweden and now lives in the United Arab Emirates, draws on a variety of musical inspirations, including Mbalax from Gambia and Senegal, afrobeats and amapiano from Nigeria and South Africa, and modern R&B and pop. This eclectic inspiration is mirrored in his debut solo track ‘Wine’, which will serve as the sonic basis for his upcoming debut EP, due out this summer. Dawda’s distinct musical style flawlessly blends the rhythms of afrobeats, the soulfulness of R&B, and the attraction of pop, resulting in a creative sound that will reverberate across continents.
