Reigniting a New York classic, Young M.A. delivers the video for “Quiet Storm.”
Jumping on the potent Mobb Deep and Lil’ Kim instrumental, the “Ooouuu” star opens up about past pain and self-discovery.
“I had to cry, had to hurt,” she raps. “I was at my worst / Momma wondered why I never liked to wear a skirt / Or wear a purse / I tried to be girlie once / But fortunately, it didn’t work.”
As M.A. raps, childhood photos flash on the screen in the “Quiet Storm” video, directed by a piece by guy.
“Quiet Storm” may be new to fans just getting up on M.A. but it was actually part of the Brooklyn spitter’s November project, Sleep Walkin.
M.A.’s making tons of fans this year with her breakout hit “Ooouuu,” which has been remixed by everyone from Nicki Minaj to her idol 50 Cent. After the “Quiet Storm” video dropped, she got yet another big co-sign from Kehlani.
