Rising Nigerian singer, Hanu Jay begins the year with a visual off his last project, Wow (Can I Blow Your Mind). Late 2021, the Delta-state born musician’s prowess was deftly showcased on the tape, blending influences that ranged from eighties soul to southern-inflected konto music.

Off that project, “Party on the Moon” emerged as a fan favorite, its laidback vibe easing into a memorable evening or even a locked-in day at the house. The song itself is a tender note of affection, crooned sweetly by Hanu Jay, his eyes set further, searching for his lover. “Is she Louisa?” she asks on the chorus, backed by Disally’s sunny, synth-heavy production.
Heralded by scintillating visuals, the song is now titled “Is She Louisa” and features the global superstar, Nasty C. The South African rap sensation is as brilliant as ever, delivering a stunning verse embraced in charisma and care: “Put you in 24carat gold thing/ Iwannatake you offline for a moment/ I love your body ‘cos it’s on me/ I think I found me a soulmate, I think I may go the whole way.”
The video, directed by the phenomenal AdemolaFalomo, features both Hanu Jay and Nasty C in eye-catching locations, a green-hued sports car and a glittering orange telephone booth, a red room which enhances Hanu Jay’s maddened state and his craze for Louisa. Untouched by the melancholy of his co-star, Nasty C is in a fancy hotel room, wearing the swag of someone who’s come a long way to reunite with a lover. You can feel him preparing to go out as his verse progresses. “I’ll bring a freaking party,” he promises.

This is the first offering in what should be a productive year for Hanu Jay and his team, led by the seasoned music executive Gbemi Ereku. Since his entry in the music industry over five years ago, the man born Aghogho Hanu Agbodje has kept himself working, creating jams that has formed his credible catalog.
