The government has announced local singers set to entertain the president and the country in general at the Madaraka Day celebration on Wednesday, the first day of June 2022.
The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) confirmed by announcing that the preparations for the Madaraka Day Celebrations are on course and will see various artists take stage.
This year’s celebration is somewhat unique and important as it is the last Madaraka Day that H.E Uhuru Kenyatta will commemorate as President and Commander in Chief.
Some of the artistes billed to perform on this year’s Madaraka day include Femi One, Masauti, Jovial, Trio Mio, Iyanii, and Mutulani Kasheshe of the hit song ‘Kungulu Kwangala’ and several others.
Also, on the list are identified youth choristers and contemporary dancers from the Nairobi region and its environs who were selected in auditions that were conducted a few months ago.
“Kenyans should expect a great set of performances ranging from traditional dances and choral music to contemporary music. Just like in the 2021 Jamhuri Day celebrations, Madaraka Day 2022 will also feature Kenya’s Gengetone sound,” PPMC Director Dr. Donald Otoyo said in part.
“Participants from the National Youth Talent Development Programme will also get to present productions they created during their various training workshops. PPMC is confident that the artistes and acts curated for Madaraka Day 2022 will represent diversity and inclusivity among various artists and music genres in Kenyan music.”
