Nicolas Cage is ‘Hangover living,’ files for Divorce four days after marrying girlfriend

Actor Nicolas Cage has filed for an annulment four days after getting married in Las Vegas, saying he was too drunk to understand his actions. A court record shows the Ghost Rider star asked on Wednesday for the annulment of his marriage to Erika Koike. Cage claims the pair drank “to the point of intoxication” before the wedding on Saturday.

Celebrity website The Blast reported that Cage’s lawyers said: “Prior to obtaining a marriage license and participating in a marriage ceremony, [Cage] and [Koike] were both drinking to the point of intoxication. “As a result of his intoxication, when [Koike] suggested to [Cage] that they should marry, [Cage] reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognise or understand the full impact of his actions.” The 55-year-old also argues that he wasn’t aware of Ms Koike’s “relationship with another person”, with the document also stating that she did not inform him of her “criminal history” including “additional active criminal proceedings”.

Ms Koike, a makeup artist, is understood to have pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge in Las Vegas and is scheduled to return to court in June. The couple, who have been dating for a year, tied the knot on the same day they applied for a marriage licence. This is the fourth marriage of the Oscar-winning actor, who was previously married to former waitress Alike Kim, singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley and actress Patricia Arquette. Cage also has a son with former girlfriend Christina Fulton. The actor received an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in the 1995 film Leaving Las Vegas. His other box office successes include Ghost Rider, Face/Off, The Rock and Moonstruck. He most recently voiced the character of Spider-Man Noir in 2018’s Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
