South African acapella group The Joy has marked their debut with a big bang through their fresh rendition of the traditional Zulu song “Isencane Lengane”. The five-piece all-male band takes music fans down memory lane with smooth harmonising and deep vocals on this nostalgic track. The Durban-based band wants to reintroduce long-forgotten, natural euphoria, and their debut single does just that.
The Joy has released a double album to solidify their position. Today also saw the release of the “Isencane Lengane” music video, which has a “homemade” feel to it and pays homage to the group’s Zulu roots and musical journey. The group’s family life is captured in an effortless music video that features the traditional Zulu wedding song. One of the most striking scenes in the film features young men dressed in fitted pastel suits with their pants pulled up, about to step into a nearby river.
