Charlie Murphy, a brother to Eddie Murphy best known for his work as a writer and performer on the comedy series Chappelle’s Show died on 12th April 2017, he was 57, the news of his death was reportedly made known to the public by his manager, Domenick Nati who said Murphy died in New York of leukemia.
Though Murphy had long been on the comedy circuit, he rose to national prominence in 2003 as a co-star on Dave Chappelle’s eponymous ‘Chappelle’s Show’. Murphy was also a writer for the sketch comedy show. Charlie Murphy also worked with younger brother Eddie on the script for 2007’s ‘Norbit’ and voiced Llyod the dog in the movie. He appeared in numerous movies,TV shows and even lent his voice to some video games.More recently, he appeared in the Adult Swim series ‘Black Jesus’ and the comedy-horror film “Meet the Blacks”, and he’ll be featured on the upcoming season 4 of the Starz drama ‘Power’. Murphy is remembered for his amazing tale about the late legendary musician Prince, which was made into a skit for Chappelle’s Show.
In 2009, Murphy was struck by tragedy when his wife of 12 years, Tisha Taylor Murphy, passed away after suffering from cervical cancer. It was reported at the time that Taylor Murphy had been battling the disease for two years. The couple had two children together, Ava and Xavier. While Murphy had a child from a previous relationship.
Murphy’s death was also mourned by fellow comedians, actors, and friends on social media.
He will forever be remembered for all the hearts he healed and faces he put smiles on with his jokes.
