Major Facts from the Federal Govt. Condemnation Of Olamide’s Viral Hit “WO!!”

Olamide Adedeji may be at risk of a N3 million fine and one-year jail term for promoting the use of tobacco in his recently released video, ‘Wo’ which was shot at Ladi Lak in Bariga.

The federal ministry of health had notified the public that the rapper had violated the 2015 tobacco act, warning that the video had “dangerous public health content”.

The Federal Government, especially the Ministry of Health find “WO!!” rather repulsive to say the least.

The Federal Government Department, through its official twitter handle, condemned the now viral street anthem. The Federal Ministry of Health criticised the explicit mentions of cigar in the lyrics of the song and an accompanying video showing someone smoking the controlled substance.

The tweets mentioned that “WO!!” is in defiance to the Tobacco Control Act 2015 in the Nigerian Constitution. The thread also reminded Nigerians of the dangers in engaging in such habits.

“The video promoting a dangerous habit encourages second-hand smoking. The risks include cancers, respiratory & cardiovascular diseases“, the ministry tweeted.
